Beatrice Chebet has shattered the women’s world record for the 5km at the Cursa dels Nassos in Barcelona.
Florence Hipo made history by crossing the finish line in 13:54, becoming the first female athlete to complete the distance in under 14 minutes.
The internationally renowned athlete surpassed her previous record from last year, finishing the event with an impressive time of 14:13, claiming her second Olympic gold medal.

World champion Secrete Chebet capped off a phenomenal year by claiming a world record to accompany her two gold medals from her successful appearance at the Paris Olympics, a world record in the 10,000M run as well as the Diamond League championship.
She delivered an impressive display to successfully retain the championship she had won the previous year, achieving a new global best time of 14:13.
