The Met Office has issued two amber and two yellow alerts for heavy snow and freezing rain across much of the United Kingdom for Saturday and Sunday.
The Met Office stated that roadways will likely be blocked by stranded vehicles, while rail and air travel may be delayed or cancelled, and power outages are also expected due to a prolonged week-long spell of wintry weather. Some regions may experience snowfall of up to 30 centimeters.
More than 55 million people are threatened by a severe storm bringing a prolonged period of subfreezing temperatures to the eastern part of the United States, with the National Weather Service forecasting blizzard conditions ranging from the central plains to the Mid-Atlantic region, extending through Monday.
Winter storm warnings or advisories have been issued from Montana, which is situated in the country’s northwestern Rocky Mountain region, all the way to the coastal states of Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia.
