Ivory Coast has dropped cooperation on military matters with France, joining other West African nations in revaluating ties.

Ivory Coast announced on Tuesday that the French military will terminate its presence in the country, thus bringing an end to a military presence that has persisted for a considerable number of years.

In a year-end address, President Alassane Ouattara stated that the withdrawal process would resume in January next.

“Ivory Coast will see the French forces withdraw in an orderly and coordinated manner,” President Ouattara stated.
