  • Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has been linked with a potential transfer departure after missing six consecutive matches.

  • New coach Ruben Amorin has suspended the English player for an unspecified reason.

  • The 27-year-old has struggled for consistent performance since the beginning of the previous season, and it appears his tenure at Old Trafford is nearing its conclusion.

Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has provided an update on Marcus Rashford’s future following the player’s potential transfer away from the club.

The Red Devils academy product hasn’t featured in the last six matches and stated he “wants a new challenge.”

Marcus Rashford’s loss from the team coincided with a woeful stretch of four consecutive defeats, which concluded with a dramatic draw against Liverpool.

Amorim shares Rashford update

Manchester United’s Rashford has been rumored to be considering a departure from Old Trafford, and it has been reported that he is in discussions with several top Italian clubs in the transfer market.

A player who plays on the right wing for England’s national team expressed his desire to leave the team after a journalist, Henry Winter, revealed that the team’s coach, later identified as Amorim, had left him out of the lineup for the first time.

I’m ready to move on to the next challenge,” he said. “When I go, there will be ‘no hard feelings’. You can’t expect any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s how I am, personally.

Amorim hath not played the 27-year-old since December 12 and said his future remains in his hands.

The decision to start Marcus falls more heavily on him than on me,” Amorim said via Sky Sports. “It ultimately depends on his level of motivation. He is part of our squad and is here, so I am willing to play him if he is.”

Ahead of Manchester United’s FA Cup third-round match against Arsenal, Amorim was asked about Rashford’s fitness status for the game and his future prospects.

“We’ll see, guys. We need to focus on the next game,” he said via teleconference.

Manchester United is targeting to build on their strong showing against Liverpool against Arsenal at their Emirates Stadium.

What’s happening with Rashford?

Rashford put in a career year in the 2022/23 season, which was the first season under Erik ten Hag. He scored 30 goals and contributed to his team’s Carabao Cup victory.

However, things began to deteriorate from the beginning of last season, and it was no surprise Manchester United struggled as he lost his form.

Before Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Everton on December 1, Rashford went out 48 hours before the match, according to The Athletic. The report adds that Amorim does not allow his players in bars near games.

He last featured in a match on December 12 against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League, and on December 30, he sat out the game against Newcastle United without being used as a substitute.

Rashford has had disciplinary problems under Erik ten Hag, and Amorim has suggested it may be time to implement new strategies for the player who developed at the academy.

For instance, with Rash, you attempt something, it doesn’t work out,” he said. “Shall we carry on doing the same thing, or is it time to try something new?

Rashford to Napoli?

Reports earlier suggested that Manchester United had been in discussions with Napoli regarding a potential player exchange.

In the agreement, the English giants could obtain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, while Rashford would go to Italy.
