The Ford Mustang Mach-E Is Now The Best-Selling Mustang

They claimed it was impossible, nonetheless the electric crossover Mustang greatly outperformed the gas-powered Mustang in 2024.

was first introduced to the public in late 2019, the traditional Mustang enthusiasts—and even many casual car enthusiasts—reacted extremely negatively.

—no small feat.

Now, the Mach-E has outsold the traditional Ford Mustang. I’d also say that was a more impressive achievement.

Highlighted is the undesirable sales performance of the traditional Mustang in a historical context. One reason could be the polarizing appearance of the latest seventh-generation Mustang, which debuted on the market in 2023, making it pricier than its predecessors. Perhaps it’s also a factor that the demand for two-door coupes has never been the same since its prime years. The automotive landscape in America has shifted, becoming more focused on trucks and SUVs, regardless of opinions, and unfortunately, the Mustang’s sales are not meeting expectations as in the past.

The Mustang Mach-E cruised to its best year yet in 2024, with a record 51,745 units sold in the US market. This impressive sales figure represented a noteworthy 27% hike from the 2023 sales of 40,771 units. Notably, the Mach-E outpaced the traditional gas-powered Mustang, which shrank by nearly 10% to sell just 44,003 units in 2024.

At present, it can be had in base-level Select, more upscale Premium, and high-performance GT and Rally trims, offering up to 320 miles and zero-to-60 mph times as low as 3.3 seconds.

This feature, which should greatly improve the car’s chances of qualifying for the tax credit when bought.

Increasingly, it seems that many are coming to the conclusion that the electric Mustang is the better choice.

News for enthusiasts of the 5.0-liter V8, it may be jarring, but it’s reassuring to know the Mach-E isn’t slacking off when it comes to speed – and perhaps even outperforms in practical cargo space.
